Art (Painting)

My name is Judy and I am a member of this group of wonderful people and find them very friendly and supportive. We all get along well together, and we are there to offer support and kind words if any of us gets a little frustrated with our paintings – as we all do from time to time.

We also have good fun together. If you are near the art room on any Monday or Friday you may hear some singing and laughter from time to time as we remember songs of yesterday. We sometimes share some of our previous lives and experiences with each other.

If anyone reading this thinks they may like to join our group and paint – why not come and speak to Judy on any Monday or Friday. I know she will welcome you and offer excellent advice and assistance.

Western Mahjong

Mahjong is a game played with a set of 144 tiles, the faces of which are decorated with colourful designs, the tiles are thought to have been developed from dominoes.  There are 3 suits in the game, Bamboos, Circles and Characters, plus four Winds (NEWS) and three Dragons (Red, White and Green).  There are 4 tiles of each.  Mahjong is played with, two, three, four or five players, although usually with three or four.  House rules apply and may vary from different clubs, but rules should be adhered to wherever playing.

The object of the game is to be the first to complete a hand, or go Mahjong, this entails using 14 tiles.  If no one goes out, it is called a dead wall and a new game is started. Western Mahjong play with books, lots of games to choose from, also many games gathered over the years from other clubs or individual players are used.

At this club, we do not gamble or score, just have a lot of fun and enjoyment.  We do like to have a win!! We play every Wednesday in The Wreck Room from 1pm until about 3.30pm.  New members are welcome, if you don’t know how to play we also teach, so come along and join us.
